Two Very Different Kinds of Strength

Two very different kinds of strength are witnessed in my office on a weekly basis.

Sometimes, it takes a lot of strength to stay...

• In a marriage that's struggling
• Committed to an exercise routine and healthy diet
• In a job when you are bypassed for that promotion
• Patient in your approach to parenting
• Focused on completing your college degree when the course load is overwhelming
• Sober

It also takes a lot of strength to leave...

• A friend group that has grown toxic
• An abusive relationship
• A career that you're not fulfilled in
• Your family behind for a military deployment
• Your kid in a dorm for the first time (or every time?)
• A lifetime of negative thoughts and feelings about yourself

Both strengths are hard...both are necessary.
